About the Event

The Rochester-based African American Women’s Gospel Choir embraces a musical ministry that reflects the members’ diverse faith traditions and love for gospel music. They will present a range of songs including selections from the 1800s and the time of slavery and struggle for freedom as well as more contemporary times. Akoma, a West African Akan word, means patience, endurance, consistency and faithfulness. The concert will last about 45 minutes, followed by refreshments and informal talk. The concert is free; half-price gate fee of $7.50 for entrance to Sonnenberg Gardens. Co-Sponsored by Sonnenberg Gardens
